I dropped off the net some time ago and didn’t know it. It was brought to my notice by Educated Tatya and others. It turns out that I was still root on my server, but it wasn’t my server anymore and thus, without my database, blog and files. Even so, I don’t feel a great impetus to restore the blog from my old backups. I tired of upgrading WordPress every once in a while and tweaking the layout just for the heck of it. A hosted service makes more sense because I just couldn’t be bothered with the nerdery anymore.

Strangely enough, I started an Opera community weblog on a whim yesterday. It seemed to have decent features, and my WordPress.com invite hadn’t come through. I wrote the first post, changed the web forwarding, tried (unsuccessfully) blogging through my cellphone, and one day later, I’ve been invited to WordPress.com. I think this will be my place on the Web for the forseeable future. The old url (tushar.afraid.org) works and forwards here, but the old posts and syndication links are gone and will need updating. Yes. All five of you will need to update your RSS readers. And I don’t say this in faux modesty. I actually know all five of the people that read me.

A brief wrap-up of what is new or changed online and off:

  • I have a new and exciting project at work that arrived just in time to save me from utter despair I have given up on smartphones for now and have (in my opinion) upgraded to a Nokia 6230i. This warrants a whole new post, which I will make in due course.
  • I bit the bullet and converted my RD350 to CDI ignition. Also getting it painted and prepped for, what I hope will be, a smashingly fun trip to Goa in January ’06.
  • My younger sister has moved to Canada for a masters course in television and radio something.

More as I remember it.
