There is little in terms of benchmarking and testing in this article, which is, perhaps, just s well. I am often surprised by just how deeply people are affected by aggressive marketing — to the point that they will defend their position from what they perceive to be personal attacks. One of my earliest interactions with Educated Tatya’s friends involved one particular friend aggressively defending her ‘best’ audio setup, comprising Bose speakers hooked up to a Yamaha amp. Those in the loop are having a quiet chuckle reading this, but at the time, I was taken aback at the borderline-rabid defence of the product combination.

Nilesh has a BOSE post too. I had a conversation with a couple of the wifes friends. Ur right they get real aggressive, not just about BOSE but about Arphi Aquarius. They always sounded to me like they were playing thru a blanket. This guy exlained to me that its important that the music sounds they way you like to enjoy it, being correct to the original is unimportant. Sigh anyway now I see people with way to much money – buy a pretty decent setup to play 128 bit MP3s. Sigh.
